hi-im-bingus asked:

chatot being able to say fuck is a very good selling point but i think it's made even better by the fact it was banned from online battles in gen 5 solely because it could say fuck

Y'know something I’d like to try and see is how the anti-AO3, “don’t pay them money if we can’t make money off our fics” crowd feels about the rising use of sweatshop labor to produce bootlegs for fan artist merch. Legality aside, if the motivation is that fan artists deserve to be able to make money, what are the boundaries of their morality in the effort preserve that ability?

Of course, wording it the way I do makes it seem rather obvious, but it’s become so normalized at this point I don’t think people even consider where a lot of fan artist merch comes from anymore. Because like at least 70% of the time it isn’t artists anymore.

Good news: if you’re currently laying around and not producing anything, you are a credit to your species.

It’s recently been found that even hive insects rest. Bees will play with colorful toys. Ants sleep for about 1 minute but they do it so frequently it amounts to a few hours per day. Even trees take breaks.

The only things that work without rest are machines; literally everything that lives requires rest.

EVERYTHING THAT LIVES REQUIRES REST. STOP JUDGING YOURSELF FOR NOT BEING A ROBOT.

scrubfeast

And even machines need to rest all the time. Even unfeeling blobs of steel need maintenance, upkeep, and care. They need to be turned of every now and then to cool down.

Rest is sacred

Controversial opinion, I know, but I genuinely, genuinely think that people should not be afraid to publicly criticize a creator. Yes. Even a vaguely unproblematic popular creator. As long as they’re sticking to talking about their content and not reaching to parasocially personal levels of criticism.

And no, I don’t consider myself anywhere near immune from being the target of criticism, either. Criticism is an important tool in the ecosystem of creativity, and this black-and-white notion that good things should never be criticized and bad things can only be criticized (ergo if something is never criticized, it is good, and if something is criticized at all, it is bad) is going to accomplish nothing (well, nothing good).

When you’re a creator on the internet, trust me, you’ve heard it all. If you’re part of any kind of marginalized group while being a creator on the internet, you’ve heard much more. I don’t think making people afraid to openly express their opinion about one’s work is really necessary, especially if you’re doing it on someone else’s behalf.

Shoutout to Flapjack for kicking it and bestowing his boy with the most autistic superpower of all time: Fucking Off

Forgot Owl House existed, I was trying to figure out what episode of Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack you were talking about.
